8 Commercial Street,
I have used Inghams for many years and have always found them very good. They were recommended to me by a friend who has also used them for years. From a landlord's perspective I know they check all the tenant's references very thoroughly and my tenants seem to really like them. The negative feedback is from declined tenants and is clearly a very bad case of revenge for being rejected. Based on my experience I would recommend them.
AVOID this estate agents like the plague. I have never had the missfortue of dealing with such a bunch of incompetant people in all my life. The staff don't know if they are coming or going and they do not have any manners what so ever. One member of staff, 3 weeks after applying for a house and being told having a cat was fine, called me up and told me the landlandy would probably not allow pets and basically suggested that i get rid of my cat or leave it at my parents house. This was totally unacceptable and after everything they had put us through, which is too much to list here, and despite loving the house we decided that the best thing to do would be to pull out of the application all together. DO NOT USE THIS ESTATE AGENTS FOR ANYTHING!.
This estate agents does not take holding deposits but, uses a "satisfactory references" policy to secure the policy, or so we were told. We provided glowing references and were able to give 6 months up front rent, AND were told we should be given priority on the property as we had provided acceptable references and financial arrangements despite there being interest from another couple. One would think 6 months up front rent and excellent references would be enough, however the property was letted to another couple (who showed their interest in the property at least a week after us) who were deemed "more suitable". Clearly the suitabilty of said couple was not based on references or financial advantages, they were just more "suitable". Did I mention I am not middle aged and I have a young daughter. In addition , whenever we went to their office, (which is located on the first floor of the building they occupy in shipley) we were consulted with on the ground floor in a empty room (which used to be a Halifax lettings I believe) with just a table and chair. They would not even talk to us in their own workplace, suspect? All in all this estate agents wasted two valuble weeks of precious time we had in which we could have been looking at other properites instead of being lead up the garden path (excuse the pun)!
